I am a professor with Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, where I co-direct the Multimedia Research Center. I was a scholar supported by the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. I received the "Lu Jiaxi Young Researcher Award" from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2012.
I had been a project assistant professor in Graduate School of Information Science and Technology , The University of Tokyo, Japan. I received the Bachelor Eng. in Automation and Master Eng. degree in Control Theory and Engineering from Chongqing University in 2000 and 2003, respectively. I received the Ph.D from the University of Electro-Communications , Tokyo, Japan.
My research interests include Computer Vision, Deep LearningŁ¬Pattern Recognition, Speech Processing, Robotics etc. Recently, we focuses on develop novel deep learning techniques for action recognition, scene understanding, facial analysis and recognition, object detection with applications in surveillance, robotics and human-machine interface. Our ultimate goal is to enable machine to perceive and understand complex visual scenes like human.
I work closely with Prof. Xiaoou Tang (CUHK) , Prof. Xiaogang Wang (CUHK) , Prof. Zhifeng Li (SIAT), Prof. Caizhi Zhu (SIAT), Dr. Weling Huang (SIAT), Dr. Limin Wang (ETH) , and Dr. Yali Wang (SIAT). I also have collaboration with Prof. Nobuaki Minematsu (the University of Tokyo).
